Functional mushrooms have been used around the world for thousands of years, but they’re definitely having a moment – so much so that you may be wondering what the hype is all about! We’re here to tell you all about one of our favorite mushrooms, reishi.

What is reishi?

Reishi is a superfood functional mushroom, and a historic staple of Eastern medicine. We love it for its stress-modulating and powerful immune-boosting properties! First and foremost, reishi has adaptogenic properties, which means it “adapts” to our body’s needs. Studies have shown that such herbs and mushrooms work with our nervous system to regulate our stress response and help us achieve a more balanced state of homeostasis.

There are several molecular compounds in reishi that are responsible for its benefits, including triterpenoids and polysaccharides. These compounds work with our bodies to both help us adapt to stressors and to strengthen immune defense. This incredible mushroom can also reduce fatigue, anxiety, and depression, and support a healthy sleep cycle – it’s truly an all-around superstar. Adding reishi into our routines consistently can help us stay calm, cool, and collected.
